2009 Kentucky State Air Pistol And Air Rifle Championship  

2009 Progressve Position Pistol Championship

 

Date: Saturday, March 21 (Air Rifle), Saturday, March 28 (Air Pistol),  2009

 

Time: First relay at 9:00 a.m.

Because of the use of electronic targets, infiltration of shooters as space is available will continue until all shooters have fired.  Approximate relay times will be given to shooters after the first relay of 12 shooters has been filled via preregistration.  No shooters will be squadded after 12:00 noon unless the number of shooters indicates the need to add additional time for relays to be done.  Shootoff for top 8 for air rifle and air pistol will be 20 minutes after results are posted.

Categories: There will be categories for Marksman, Sharpshooter, Expert, and Master.

For Progressive Position categories will serve as the state qualifier for the 2009 Progressive Postion Junior Olympics held in July at Camp Perry.

The categories are as follows…

Youth Basic Supported- For shooters up to age 9.

Shooter may sit and use support and may hold pistol with both hands.

Basic Supported- For shooters up to age 12.

Shooter may use support and use both hands on grip.

Advanced Supported- For shooters up to age 15.

Shooter may use support and one hand on gun.

Two-Handed Standing- Minimum age 10.

Both hands must be on grip. Arms fully extended.

One-Handed Standing-  Minimum age 13.

One hand on grip only. Arm fully extended.

 

Location: University of Kentucky, Barker Hall.

Course Of Fire: Open air rifle and air pistol and junior air pistol, 60 shots in 105 minutes.

Junior air rifle, 40 shots in 55 minutes.

Progressive Position is 55 minutes for 40 shots.

All times include sighter shots.

The highest Kentucky resident finisher in each shootoff will be declared state champion.

 

Rules: All current NRA International Air Pistol and Air Rifle rules apply.

 

Cost: $15 Adult, $5 Junior. Membership to the Kentucky State Rifle and Psitol Association is highly recommended as they supply the trophies and keep competitive shooting viable in the state of Kentucky!

 

Awards:

Pistol:   Annual Trophies given for high open, high junior, and high woman.

Rifle:    Annual Trophy given for high open and high junior.

Winners are eligible for multiple trophies!
