2013 NRA APPROVED HIGH POWER RIFLE MATCHES

Location: Scott Mountain Range, Fort Knox, Kentucky. 
Eligibility: Open to all competitive shooters. 
Entry Fee: Adults = $25.00, $20.00 with MCSC Membership, Juniors = $10.00.

Match proceeds support junior high power programs.

 Entries: The range capacity is 50 shooters.  A roster of all competitors AND Support Personnel must be submitted to Fort Knox security personnel 10 days before the match, so all shooters must have advanced entries.   Advanced entries must reach the This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it at least 10 days before the match date.  Entry fees will be collected the day of the match.  The matches are held on a military post and may be cancelled with little notice; w/out a phone number, you may not be advised of a schedule change.

This is NOT a substitute for actually registering your firearms per Fort Knox requirements.

Rules: These are NRA Approved matches but NRA membership is not required.  Unless modified by this program, current NRA rules will apply.  Open bolt indicators are required (Rule 3.21).  All competitors will wear eye and ear protection (Rules 3.19 & 3.20) in the pits.  All competitors will wear hearing protection on the firing line where eye protection is also highly encouraged.  Competitors will score, work in the target pits, and assist the Range and Pit Officers as required.  The use of plug type scoring gauges is restricted to the Pit Officer only.

Rifle: NRA match rifle (Rule 3.3) or service rifle (Rule 3.1, 3.1.1, or 3.1.2).
Ammunition: Any safe ammunition (Rule 3.17.B). 
Challenges: A $3.00 fee in exact change must accompany any challenge.  The fee will be refunded if the challenge is upheld.

Classification: The NRA classification system will be used.  A current NRA High Power classification card, temporary score book, or assigned classification is acceptable.  If five or more unclassified competitors compete they will be placed in a separate class, otherwise they will shoot as Masters.  An unclassified shooter is a competitor that has not shot in a NRA Registered or Approved match within the past three years.  Unclassified shooters must be sponsored by a classified shooter.

Squadding: All matches will be squadded at the registration table which opens at 7:30 am eastern time.  Advanced entries will be honored until 8:00 am.

Match Schedule: Firing will commence at 8:30 am. 
Match 1 – 200 yards. Slow fire, standing; two sighters and twenty shots for record in 22 minutes; SR target. 
Match 2 – 200 yards. Rapid fire, sitting or kneeling; two sighters in two minutes and two- ten shot strings in 60 seconds each; SR target. 
Match 3 – 300 yards.  Rapid fire, prone; two sighters in two minutes and two – ten shot strings in 70 seconds each; SR3 target. 
Match 4 – 600 yards.  Slow fire, prone; two sighters and twenty shots for record in 22 minutes; MR1 target. 
Match 5 – Aggregate of matches 1-4.

Awards: Cash will be awarded for match and class winners in each match.  If there are less than four competitors in a class, they will be grouped up into the next higher class.  If there are eight or more competitors in a class, then a second place award will be given.  Junior competitors must pay the adult entry fee to eligible for awards.

General: Bring your own food and water; there will be no lunch break.  Competitors are encouraged to car pool and park as many vehicles as possible in the 600 yard line parking area.  If personal vehicles interfere with running the match smoothly, we will require all vehicles to be left at the 600 yard line.

 CAUTION: These matches are held on a U.S. military installation and all personnel will be subject to all applicable federal laws and military regulations when traveling on post.  Concealed Carry Permits are not valid on federal installations and carrying concealed weapons of any kind on Ft. Knox is against federal law and military regulations.  Competitors are advised to arrive at Fort Knox early in order to process through the gate and arrive at the match promptly.  All firearms will be unloaded and secured in an appropriate storage container.  Ammunition will also be stored in appropriate containers and kept separate from any firearms.

Directions: Enter the post through Chaffee Gate.  After clearing Security, drive down Bullion to Eisenhower.  Turn right and go under the railroad tracks.  Continue through the base, past Burger King, and down a steep hill to the STOP sign at Main Range Road.  Here Eisenhower turns into Porter River Road.  Continue across Main Range Road to the first gate on the right.  Turn right and go up the steep hill on the gravel road.  Assemble at the 600 yard line parking lot for registration and squadding.

Current Fort Knox regulations require all personnel on Scott Mountain Range to provide the following information and pass a background check in 2013.  The following information is required for access to the base.  This is NOT a substitute for actually registering your firearms per Fort Knox requirements.
