NRA Conventional Pistol Matches are held on Tollgate Pistol Range at Fort Knox, Ky. The Matches are on the following dates, 4-26-08, 5-24-08, 6-28-08, 8-30-08, 9-27-08, 10-18-08. The matches start at 9 am Eastern Time and finish around 1:30 pm with a lunch break. The course of fire is slow fire at 50 yds, timed fire at 25 yds, rapid fire at 25 yds. The pistols that are to be used are, 1 complete set with a 22 rimfire, 1 complete set with a centerfire, and 1 complete set with a 45 ACP. 90 scored rounds are fired with each pistol. For someone wanting to try the course of fire out, they have 2 options. Fire the 22 course of fire for a reduced entry fee or fire the complete match with a 22 and only the official 22 match results will be reported for classification.
Match fee is $30.00 for Adults and $15.00 for Juniors.

Directions to Tollgate pistol range: Enter only through the Brandenburg gate off of 31W. This gate is between Junctions of 1638/31W and 60/31W. After stopping at the gate for inspection, take a left on Frazier RD, continue on to the 4-way stop, turn left onto Wilson Rd, follow this road and it will dogleg right and changes to Main Range rd, Tollgate Pistol range is on the right.
Gate Procedures: All shooters must use the Brandenburg Gate to enter Fort Knox. Have a picture ID and match program ready at the gate. Tell the gate guards you are traveling to the pistol match at Tollgate Pistol Range and that you have one or more firearms. Bring only the firearms you plan to shoot and call the match coordinator prior to the match to have your name and address on the gate roster. Your vehicle may be searched and you may be asked for vehicle registration and proof of insurance papers. This happens to everyone entering the post whose vehicle is not registered on Fort Knox, not just people with firearms. It will be very helpful to be cooperative and polite when dealing with the guards.
Unless on official law enforcement business, Fort Knox considers all peace officers as civilians and thus subject to all these requirements.
CAUTION: These matches are held on a U.S. military installation and everyone is subject to all applicable federal laws and military regulations while on post.
Concealed Carry Permits are not valid on federal installations and carrying concealed weapons of any kind on Ft. Knox is against federal law and military regulations.
Competitors should arrive at Fort Knox early in order to process through the gate and arrive at the match promptly. All firearms must be unloaded and secured in an appropriate container. Ammunition must be stored in appropriate separate containers.
